Job Overview

The Facilities & Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting both scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks for the facility's machinery and equipment.

Detailed Responsibilities

Core Duties
  • Collaborate with management and utilize the site's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to prioritize urgent maintenance tasks and respond promptly.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance on machinery and equipment according to the preventative maintenance plans and CMMS guidelines.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with machinery and equipment, using technical documentation, manuals, and PLC/CNC systems as necessary.
  • Conduct fault analysis down to the component level.
  • Assist in planning and executing site-specific projects.
  • Facilitate the relocation of machinery and equipment when required.
  • Operate site-specific powered vehicles as needed.
  • Follow established safety protocols, including the site's Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to develop apprentice mechanics in Facilities & Maintenance.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance office to order necessary parts or supplies, providing detailed information as needed.
  • Work alongside contractors and suppliers when necessary.
  • Serve as temporary Lead Mechanic when required and perform statutory inspections of machinery and equipment.
Qualifications / Requirements:

The ideal candidate:
  • Must have completed a recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship (trade certification required).
  • Should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be able to interpret and understand technical drawings and manuals.
  • Should possess the ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be proficient with computers and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have recent experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.
  • Should have a solid understanding of mechanical systems.
