About the Role

We are a leading environmental consultancy, Pell Frischmann Group Ltd., seeking an experienced professional to lead our Environmental Permitting Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing environmental permitting projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to the growth of our business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, a proven track record of managing environmental permitting projects, and excellent communication and leadership skills. You will be responsible for preparing environmental permit applications, advising on and auditing environmental management systems, and providing ongoing compliance support to clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental permitting projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Prepare environmental permit applications for activities and discharges to water, land, and air
  • Advise on and audit environmental management systems
  • Provide ongoing compliance support to clients
  • Lead technical and other work, ensuring high levels of quality and environmental responsibility
  • Coordinate technical input from across the company and partner companies
  • Ensure deliverables meet client and regulator needs, provided cost-effectively and to an exemplary standard
  • Engage in business development, client, and third-party liaison, leading to enhanced reputation and new work
  • Contribute to and prepare bids
  • Line manage and mentor individuals within the team
  • Advocate the team's services internally to framework managers and technical leads
  • Assist with the promotion of the company's capabilities to current and prospective clients
Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required
  • Environmental Science degree or similar
  • Member of relevant environmental professional body
  • Minimum 10 years' relevant experience, including work for an environmental consultancy
  • Sound knowledge and experience of the environmental permitting regime and management of permit applications
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Successful negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and provide effective direction to all members of the team
  • Full UK driver's licence
