Capacity and Availability Specialist
Role Summary
Guarantees that IT assets and services are both accessible and dependable for users and the organization. Responsible for planning, monitoring, and restoring the availability of IT resources. Manages user expectations and defines/manages Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Ensures that IT resources (including infrastructure, data, and applications) are adequate to meet current and future business needs. Works closely with the Business Partner and Enterprise Architecture teams to understand and prepare for significant future IT demand.Relationship Management
Develops and maintains sustainable and respectful relationships with stakeholders, cross-IT teams, and external partners.Governance Responsibilities
Participates as a member or invitee in key teams and boards, including the IAG Cargo Infrastructure team within Service Operations and Infrastructure and the IAG Cargo CDIO Team.Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the approach to demand and capacity planning within British Airways IT. Design and implement processes that ensure control while facilitating efficient delivery of IT assets and services. Review and consolidate demand forecasts to provide insights into risks and mitigation strategies for successful delivery. Create, manage, and deliver timely, effective, and insightful reporting that adds value. Actively seek and shape requirements from multiple senior stakeholders, providing user-friendly, value-added reports. Handle ad-hoc data requests from senior stakeholders as needed. Maintain a strong awareness of IT best practices and trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and business transformation.Travel Requirements:
This role may involve travel and working from various locations. Willingness and ability to travel for meetings, workshops, and related activities are essential.
Qualifications and Skills:
In-depth knowledge of IT service and asset availability and capacity planning. Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with exceptional time management and prioritization skills. Collaborative approach, resulting in recognition as a valued partner by colleagues, customers, and senior stakeholders. Experience in engaging and managing third-party suppliers. Strong influencing capabilities. Proficiency in written and spoken English.Professional Experience:
Experience in a global organization with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders effectively. Demonstrated success in a multi-vendor environment across different regions. Proven capability to define Service Level Agreements aligned with business needs. Ability to produce accurate and insightful reporting and metrics regarding current availability and capacity, as well as future projections. Experience in designing and implementing SLAs, OLAs, and KPIs. Proven experience in analyzing data to foster data-driven discussions.
