About the Role.
The Secure Waste Operations Manager will oversee the management and enhancement of our secure waste site, focusing on implementing industry-leading practices to ensure exceptional customer service and a top-tier secure disposal service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the secure destruction of client materials, ensuring high-quality service and fostering trust in our operations.
- Establishing the necessary infrastructure to respond efficiently to client demands.
- Pursuing continuous improvement in site performance and contract management to meet financial targets.
- Collaborating with the Regional General Manager to develop long-term strategic plans aligned with the annual Business Plan while handling daily operations effectively.
- Ensuring compliance with site permits and relevant legislation to maintain operational integrity.
- Engaging with regulatory bodies and local authorities to uphold compliance and nurture positive community relations.
- Identifying and cultivating new business opportunities to enhance stakeholder value while optimizing costs without compromising safety.
The role requires a hands-on approach, utilizing skills in relationship management, negotiation, and personnel oversight. Adherence to strict processes and regulations is essential, with a focus on leading by example. The Secure Waste Operations Manager must ensure that sensitive materials are handled with the utmost confidentiality and compliance with service level agreements.
Qualifications.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
- COTC 4MTSH certification is preferred.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications are advantageous.
- Experience in a transfer station, materials recovery facility, or similar environment.
- Strong background in people management and health & safety protocols.
- Demonstrated success in meeting defined service delivery KPIs.
- Experience in profit and loss management.
- Knowledge of current and upcoming environmental and health and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with waste industry laws and practices.
- Commercial acumen.
- Resilience and the ability to thrive under pressure.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
