Position Overview

Are you a skilled midwife seeking a flexible work arrangement to balance your other commitments?

If so, we invite you to consider joining our Temporary Staffing team.

Our maternity department is expanding, and we are looking for qualified midwives with recent clinical experience to become part of our dedicated team.

Our maternity service handles approximately 5000 births annually, offering both community-based midwifery and inpatient care. We have 32 postnatal beds, including 5 transitional care beds, and 13 antenatal beds. Our Delivery Suite/Triage area features 15 birthing rooms, including a birthing pool, along with 2 obstetric theatres and recovery facilities that cater to high dependency needs. Additionally, we operate a Maternity Assessment Unit for women requiring evaluation and a Midwifery Led Birthing Unit with 4 birthing rooms equipped for water births.

We are committed to providing individualized care to all women in established labor and take pride in our BFI Level 3 accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in an acute healthcare setting within the past year
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

We seek enthusiastic and adaptable midwives who are dedicated to delivering exceptional care to all patients.

Work Schedule: As this is a Bank position, hours and shifts will vary. Our team works a range of shifts, primarily long days and night shifts, with some shorter early and late shifts available, ensuring coverage for a 24-hour service throughout the year.

Job Responsibilities

Please note that this position is not suitable for newly qualified midwives or those requiring Tier 2 sponsorship.

Qualifications and Training

Essential:

  • Working towards or completed Mentor Preparation Programme or equivalent, to be achieved within 3 years of qualifying
  • Registered Midwife (RM)

Desirable:

  • Neuro-behavioral Physiological Examination of the Newborn Course
  • Neonatal Life Support Course
  • Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics Course

Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 1 year post-registration experience
  • Evidence of achieving Band 6 competencies
