Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to lead our Maternal Medicine Centre. The successful candidate will join a team of 11 consultant Obstetricians delivering high-quality antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful applicant will be expected to work alongside the existing team to provide tertiary care within the Maternal Medicine Centre for those with pre-existing health conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Norwich Regional Maternal Medicine Centre and will be expected to work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement high-quality care pathways.

About Us

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services through the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (1,000 beds) and Cromer and District Hospital. Our staff of over 7,000 treat more than one million patients, and we work closely with our partners on the Norwich Research Park and Norwich Radiology Academy to take forward our ambitious targets for research and development.

Person Specification

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register Via; CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) CESR or European Community Rights
  • ATSM Advanced Labour Ward Practice
  • ATSM Maternal Medicine
  • ASM in Safe Practice in Abortion Care

Essential Qualities

  • Good communicator
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Enthusiasm for service development and teaching

Desirable Qualities

  • Previous responsibility for service improvement
  • Management skills (eg experience of coordinating rotas)

Experience

  • Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 7 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty
  • Training and expertise in children's safeguarding
  • Extensive obstetric experience able to perform all roles in the job description
  • Maternal Medicine Centre Leadership Experience
  • Advanced Abortion Care Experience

  • Special interest in perinatal loss. Ability to further develop special interests

Circumstances

  • Flexible outlook on working hours
  • Must live within a 15-mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time
  • Full Driving License
