Production Engineering Specialist - Industrial Systems and Engineering

West Midlands - Permanent - Competitive - Only British and UK Candidates are Eligible

A Production Engineering Specialist is sought to join a prominent International Industrial Systems and Engineering firm that specializes in the Design, Manufacture, Assembly, Testing, and Commissioning of Industrial Systems. The successful Production Engineering Specialist will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, providing essential manufacturing technical expertise and guidance from the design phase through to the final stages of production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on the most efficient manufacturing methods for components and assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements using the route card system.
  • Create manufacturing documentation, including inspection and test plans.
  • Distribute route cards with clear manufacturing instructions.
  • Develop route cards with precise timing for manufacturing tasks.
  • Participate in design reviews to assess drawings and plans.
  • Provide clear and productive instructions for manufacturing processes.
  • Input, manage, and update manufacturing data within production control and MRP systems.
  • Identify and eliminate waste and non-value-adding activities.
  • Support the tendering process and the formulation of manufacturing strategies.
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and assist in their resolution.
  • Utilize methodologies such as 5 Why's, DMAIC, and root cause analysis for ongoing improvements.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing drawings, documentation, and quality standards.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Proven industrial experience in a manufacturing capacity.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and lean principles.
  • Understanding of processes such as Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Mechanical/Electrical Assembly, or Welding.
  • Knowledge of various materials and welding techniques.
  • Insight into how processes impact different materials and methods to prevent distortion and defects.
  • Awareness of inspection processes and the influence of designs on accuracy and outcomes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings, providing detailed manufacturing and procurement instructions.
  • Capable of producing components or assemblies that meet stringent quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering clear written and verbal instructions.
  • Organized and methodical, with the ability to review designs and offer manufacturability insights.
  • Skilled in producing manufacturing instructions for planners, operators, inspectors, and quality engineers.
  • Commitment to a right-first-time culture and contributing to the overall process.
  • Proficient in IT systems for internal processes and technical reporting.
  • Focused on customer satisfaction, safety, quality, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • A positive attitude with a proactive approach to achieving objectives.
