Work Schedule:

  • Four days on, four days off, covering seven days a week with 12-hour shifts.
  • Day shifts from 05:30 to 17:30 and 10:30 to 22:30.
  • Early closure at 21:00 on Fridays.

Everest People Solutions is seeking a Versatile Engineering Specialist for a pioneering food production company. This role involves direct reporting to the engineering supervisor and focuses on the efficient upkeep of all production and facility equipment. The position requires a keen ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across a wide variety of machinery and scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure operational safety and product integrity.
  • Enhance and refine maintenance protocols and systems.
  • Execute both scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks autonomously.
  • Carry out minor electrical installations independently.
  • Diagnose faults effectively.
  • Oversee subcontractors when necessary.
  • Actively engage in task completion and team collaboration.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions during handovers to incoming engineers.
  • Respond swiftly to equipment failures and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment are functional and suitable for use.
  • Lead electrical installation projects with appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in shift changeover discussions.
  • Coordinate daily job sheets and collaborate closely with production teams to achieve objectives.
  • Manage tasks related to plant operations, including startup, monitoring, and shutdown procedures.
  • Recommend replacements for defective electrical components.
  • Collaborate with other departments to install, maintain, and enhance factory equipment.
  • Keep maintenance records current and document actions promptly.
  • Contribute to reducing energy expenses for the company.
  • Supervise electrical tasks during project implementations.
  • Develop and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Maintain precise and timely documentation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Versatile Engineering Specialist within the food or FMCG sector.
  • Time-served engineer with a strong technical and mechanical skill set.
  • Recognized electrical qualification (HNC or equivalent).
  • NICIEC 17th Edition certification.
  • Certification in testing and inspection for electrical connections in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues using complex circuit diagrams.
  • Experienced in fault finding and programming various PLCs and inverters.
  • Competent in TIG welding and stainless steel fabrication.
  • Trained in pneumatic and air systems.
  • Experience with site systems such as CCTV, access controls, SCADA, and specific machine control systems.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, PUWER, LOLER, and COSHH regulations.
  • Experience in the food industry, particularly in meat processing, is advantageous.
  • Health & Safety training certification or qualification is preferred.
