Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulating and implementing effective sourcing strategies that align with the overarching Infrastructure Construction Strategy.
  • Providing leadership and direction to the procurement team, fostering an environment conducive to success.
  • Overseeing the procurement process for sourcing and contracting, including the development of tender documentation, evaluation, and award procedures.
  • Managing Framework Agreements and monitoring the commercial performance of contractors, while nurturing relationships with both strategic suppliers and various stakeholders.
  • Conducting negotiations and finalizing contracts with external suppliers, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and business objectives.
  • Utilizing supplier relationship management tools to conduct supplier evaluations and ensure ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Coordinating throughout the procurement lifecycle, effectively communicating and resolving issues that arise between customers and suppliers.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in supply chain management within the construction sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of JCT and NEC Construction contracts.
  • Proven track record in developing construction strategies.
  • Familiarity with business and procurement methodologies, techniques, and policies.
  • Experience in managing contract and supplier performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead a team of supply chain professionals.

Desirable:

  • Experience from a client-side perspective.
  • Professional qualifications such as MRICS or equivalent.
  • MCIPS certification.
  • Background in public sector regulated environments.
