Job Description:

Jonathan Lee Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Principal Console Engineer to lead the development of the Centre Console on a significant minor change project. This is a 12-month contract role, offering a competitive hourly rate of £30.78.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Concept Development: Create concept sheets and supporting presentations to the Centre of Vehicle Engineering (CVE) team.
  2. Technical Explanation: Provide detailed technical explanations of changing content to cost estimators to establish accurate budgets.
  3. Design Estimation: Generate design estimations for the cost of change from benchmark data.
  4. Styling Feedback: Prepare styling feedback on A-Surface feasibility and technical requirements.
  5. Project Management: Take responsibility for cost, timing, and delivery to meet all required specifications.
  6. Challenge Identification: Identify challenge points and queries in the quote to close the gap between the quote, concept, and budget.
Requirements:
  1. Design and Engineering Qualification: Possess a design or engineering qualification.
  2. Interior Cabin Parts Knowledge: Have prior knowledge of interior cabin parts/modules, including:
  • Global Design and Development: Experience in global design and development at part/module level.
  • Supplier Management: Proven supplier management skills, focusing on cost, quality, and timing.
  • Regulation and Safety: Understanding of meeting regulation and safety performance standards.
  • Test Validation: Experience in managing and reporting test validation.
  • Part Quality and Reliability: Knowledge of managing and reporting part quality and reliability.
  • Market Analysis: Ability to conduct technical analysis of market concerns.
  • Adoption Timing and Delivery: Experience in managing and reporting adoption timing and delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Proven ability to work as part of a cross-functional team.
Engineering Skills: Display an understanding of how to engineer injection moulded plastic and pressed metal assemblies.CAD Interrogation: Possess CAD interrogation skills.
