We are seeking to hire multiple Lead Hydraulic Modellers / Urban Drainage Planners to support a variety of significant long-term initiatives within the UK.


In collaboration with major water companies, Tetra Tech has secured a £100 million framework to enhance river ecosystems across the Northwest of England.

About Our Team:


Our Water Consulting division is composed of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts who provide Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to our clients in the water sector.

This dynamic industry offers both challenges and opportunities that demand creativity, commitment, and teamwork to effectively meet our clients' requirements.


Alongside the United Utilities framework, we engage with various leading water companies across the UK, maintaining a diverse portfolio of long-term agreements.

Our Water Consultancy division is involved in prestigious AMP8 initiatives that will extend into AMP9 and beyond, ensuring a secure career path for the next two decades while leaving a meaningful legacy.


Your Profile:


Ideal candidates will have prior experience in urban drainage projects and be proficient in InfoWorks ICM and relevant GIS software.

The successful applicant will exhibit strong collaborative skills and the ability to integrate smoothly into a team environment. Additionally, there will be opportunities to mentor and provide technical support to fellow modelling professionals, demonstrating leadership in urban drainage while prioritizing outstanding client service.

Your Key Responsibilities:


• Develop and deliver wastewater catchment strategies and solutions, including hydraulic modelling and analysis, model use studies, and cost-benefit analysis, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

• Maintain awareness of engineering factors related to solution feasibility and buildability.


• Drive continuous improvement of tools, procedures, and processes to enhance efficiency and innovation.


• Ensure the quality of outputs and compliance with standards, specifications, and governance requirements.


• Engage with clients and/or other Tetra Tech offices as necessary.


• Lead a team to establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients.


• Manage project team members, providing day-to-day leadership, workload planning, technical direction, and support, while fostering staff performance and career development.


• Collaborate with broader Tetra Tech disciplines to enhance project outcomes.


Your Qualifications:

• Degree in a relevant technical field; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.

• Familiarity with relevant legislation and water industry regulations.

• Ability to manage small to large projects and programmes effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Expertise in InfoWorks ICM and ICM Exchange.


• Extensive knowledge in hydraulic modelling, catchment planning, and related wastewater infrastructure, ensuring compliance with client standards and specifications.


• Proficiency in MS 365 applications, including advanced Excel, PowerBI, and SharePoint.

• Working knowledge of GIS Systems (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS) is preferred.

• Experience with FME, Optimatics, Python (or similar) is a plus.
