Inverness, Highland, United Kingdom Nhsscotland Full time

Nhsscotland is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment, free from unlawful discrimination. Our goal is to have a workforce that truly reflects the community we serve, where every employee feels valued and empowered to excel.

The island of Gigha offers a unique and serene environment, with 30 miles of coastline featuring a mix of rugged shores and pristine beaches. The island's mild climate, thanks to the North Atlantic drift of the Gulf Stream, makes it an attractive destination for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts.

The island's small community of approximately 160 residents provides a close-knit and supportive environment. A three-bedroom furnished house is available for the successful candidate to reside in while on duty, situated conveniently next to the surgery in the heart of the village.

We are seeking a skilled and proactive community nurse to join our team. The post holder will provide 24-hour cover for the nursing needs of the community, relieving the caseload holder and working closely with the staff at Kintyre Medical Group.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical assessment skills and a wide range of clinical experience. As a first responder for all medical emergencies, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other agencies to provide a coordinated approach to emergency incidents.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking drop-in clinics at the surgery, including structured chronic disease management and recall. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently are essential for this role.

Experience of working from Patient Group Directions (PGDs) is required, and a prescribing qualification is desirable. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in remote and rural nursing, as well as island life.

The post holder will be supported by the wider community team based at Campbeltown Hospital. If you are a dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional looking to make a difference in a unique and challenging environment, we encourage you to apply.
