Role Overview

As a vital member of our Commercial team, you will engage in comprehensive cost management activities, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality construction projects. Your expertise in quantity surveying, procurement, and estimating will play a crucial role in our mission to provide exceptional homes at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

  • Oversee Cost Control: Implement and maintain all cost management procedures, adhering to established company policies.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports, while staying informed about innovative materials and construction methods.
  • Budget Management: Take charge of budget and valuation processes, ensuring accurate updates of estimated final costs and performing thorough cost reconciliations.
  • Design Collaboration: Contribute to design discussions to ensure that all projects remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Site Budget Preparation: Collaborate with various departments to compile site start budgets, facilitating timely project initiation.
  • Value Engineering: Lead initiatives to optimize costs and enhance value, updating necessary documentation to reflect best practices.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed analyses of costs and cash flow, utilizing available support systems.
  • Subcontractor Management: Manage the procurement of subcontractors and materials, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Compliance: Stay updated on relevant regulations and codes of practice that impact estimating and cost management.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with site personnel and subcontractors to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A qualification at HND level or higher, along with a valid CSCS card.
  • A thorough understanding of current market trends and pricing.
  • Strong numerical skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
  • Excellent IT proficiency, particularly in project management and valuation software.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A solid background in the house building sector, with knowledge of Building Regulations and Health and Safety requirements.
