About the Role
Join ICS Digital, where creativity and expertise converge to develop cutting-edge digital solutions. As part of a collaborative digital community, we prioritize transparency and teamwork to address challenges and enhance user experiences. As the Head of Platform Engineering, you will be instrumental in leading and overseeing the development and management of our Enterprise Hosting Platforms, which utilize both AWS and Azure technologies. Your leadership will drive the enhancement and adoption of our platform tooling solutions on AWS, while also expanding our capabilities to support Azure. You will work towards consolidating our cloud hosting platforms to ensure a dependable service offering for the department.
In this role, you will provide strategic direction and leadership to a growing team of technical engineering specialists, managing a team of approximately eight platform engineers and developers. Collaboration with the Head of Architecture/Cyber and our ICS Digital Delivery colleagues will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps for your area, ensuring they are future-ready and maximize technology investments.
- Collaborate with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operational processes.
- Lead and maintain the capabilities of infrastructure specialist teams in building, managing, and supporting solutions in line with policy.
- Facilitate integrations with other products and new services into production.
- Evaluate current implementation strategies and identify areas for improvement.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or in a similar capacity, demonstrating technical proficiency in cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.
- Extensive background in building, maintaining, and deploying enterprise monitoring and alerting tools across complex environments.
- Strong senior leadership capabilities.
- Experience in developing strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps and championing the adoption of emerging technologies.
- Ability to manage operational relationships between internal stakeholders and critical third-party suppliers, aligning services with best practices and regulatory standards.
