Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of the legal and compliance team, you will support both the PLC business and our diverse range of brands. In this dynamic position, your legal support will encompass:

  • Commercial Matters: Reviewing and drafting various agreements, including contracts, NDAs, and marketing agreements, utilizing both standard templates and tailored drafting.
  • Intellectual Property: Negotiating and drafting licensing agreements, managing trademark protection, and addressing contentious issues while conducting strategic risk assessments for our brands.
  • Legal Compliance: Staying informed about industry regulations to ensure compliance, providing precise advice to the business, and collaborating with external counsel and the Data Protection Officer. You will also assist with corporate governance and Company Secretary responsibilities.
  • Overall Support: Providing comprehensive assistance to the Legal Counsel.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensuring compliance across the Group, both in the UK and internationally, and overseeing all necessary statutory and regulatory filings.
  • Contract Management: Supporting the administration and control of contracts for electronic signature.

To excel in this position, you should be a collaborative, adaptable, and pragmatic individual. You will be a problem solver with a keen attention to detail, capable of aligning with strategic objectives while managing your own stakeholder relationships.

Training Opportunity: For the right candidate, there is potential for financial support and study leave for qualification through the SQE route following a successful probation period.

You should possess experience in commercial contracts, whether from private practice or an in-house setting, and demonstrate a positive attitude towards expanding your legal expertise. Strong relationship-building skills are essential, as you will engage with various departments within the organization. This role is ideal for an ambitious legal graduate with a focus on commercial law seeking to enhance their paralegal experience.

Skills & Experience Required

  • LLB in Law or an equivalent legal qualification.
  • A minimum of one year of legal experience in a law firm or legal department, preferably in-house.
  • A strong interest in commercial law and intellectual property.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Ability to apply legal knowledge practically, analyze risks, and propose business-oriented solutions.
