Job Title: Retail Store Assistant Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Store Assistant Manager to join our team at Peregrine Retail Limited. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our petrol station store, ensuring that customers receive the best possible service while maintaining high standards of sales, customer service, and stock control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Budget Management: Maximize sales while remaining within the budgets set by the company.
  • Customer Service: Set an example to staff by demonstrating a high level of customer service, ensuring a high standard of customer service is delivered at all times by staff, and carrying out sales assistant/supervisor duties as required.
  • Stock Control: Ensure that stock is controlled efficiently, place stock orders, oversee deliveries, and carry out regular stock takes.
  • Site Presentation/Merchandising: Ensure the store is well-presented, all point-of-sale material is displayed in accordance with planograms, and high standards of housekeeping are maintained.
  • Fuel/Forecourt Management: Order and manage fuel for the site, ensure the forecourt meets company and statutory standards, and maintain all site systems.
  • Administration: Ensure all paperwork and administration are carried out effectively and on time, manage and maintain all site systems, and act on promotions in a timely manner.
  • Security: Ensure the safety of the premises, personnel, cash, stock, and property by complying with security procedures.
  • People Management: Manage staff rotas, ensure optimum cover is available, and assume ultimate responsibility for keeping the site open in case of cover unavailability.
  • Communication: Liaise regularly with the Area Manager to keep them informed about the day-to-day running of the site and competitor activity.
  • Site Maintenance/Hygiene: Manage upkeep and maintenance of all equipment, report any issues promptly, and ensure standards of hygiene and cleanliness are met.
  • Training: Conduct induction and on-the-job training with staff in all aspects of their duties and develop them to achieve their potential.
  • Legal Compliance: Act as license holder for the sale of alcohol on the premises, comply with all legal requirements, and ensure date and temperature checks are regularly carried out.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and regulations, and ensure that all staff are aware of those procedures and their responsibilities.
