We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Neonatal Nurse to lead our dynamic nursing team at our forward-thinking Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent.

Our unit provides care for babies and families from the local East Kent community, as well as contributing to the Emergency Bed Bureau. We have 7 Intensive Care cots, 4 High Dependency cots, and 14 Special Care cots. Our sister unit at The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate has 10 Special Care and 2 High Dependency cots, with opportunities to work across both sites.

The Neonatal Services have:

  • A Practice Educator on site, supported by a Clinical Skills Facilitator, who provides a bespoke induction package to new staff members.
  • Close collaborative working with the local University, providing placements for midwifery and Child Branch Students.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development, supporting staff on BSc and Masters Programmes, Neosave, NLS Neonatal Simulation & Human Factors Training.
  • Support for our own students on the Neonatal Intensive Care Course, as well as occasional placements for students from other Neonatal Units.

Person Specification
  • 2 Years Experience at Band 6 in Level 3 Neonatal Unit.
  • Experience of taking charge of a neonatal unit.
  • Experience of developing policies and guidelines.
  • Health & Safety knowledge.
Knowledge
  • Current issues in Nursing and Professional Issues.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse / Adult / Child or Registered Midwife.
  • BSc in Healthcare related subject or working towards.
