Your Future Role
In response to the expansion and internationalization of the UK ALSTOM overhaul portfolio, we are seeking a HVAC Test/Diagnostic Technician. This role is essential for supporting the rigorous production activities associated with the overhaul of various rail HVAC systems.
The successful candidate will report to the site industrial team and will primarily provide technical support for the daily production throughput of Saloon and Cab HVAC units from diverse customers across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overhaul processes including the removal and replacement of key refrigeration components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, TX valves, and filter driers, along with associated electrical protection and control components. Comprehensive functional testing will be required to validate these overhauls.
- Assist production personnel in diagnosing faults in overhauled units, focusing on both refrigerant and electrical issues.
- Conduct performance testing post-overhaul.
- Interpret electrical schematics effectively.
- Perform process audits in compliance with F-Gas regulations.
- Gather trend data from production processes to suggest improvements.
We prioritize enthusiasm and attitude over extensive experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, the following competencies will be beneficial for success in this role:
Supporting production teams is critical to achieving daily targets amidst a demanding workload.
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Chiller systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing system faults and performing repairs and maintenance on refrigeration and electrical circuits.
- F-GAS and ODS qualified - C & C 2079 Cat 2.
- A relevant electrical qualification, such as BS7671, C&G 2365, or 2357.
- Expertise in fault finding for refrigeration and electrical systems.
- NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
