About the Engineering Team

The engineering division at loveholidays is pivotal in realizing our ambition to be the most cherished Online Travel Agency (OTA) in Europe by delivering a superior experience to customers both before and after their bookings. Our systems handle an astonishing 755 billion holiday options daily, assisting millions in discovering their ideal getaway. Our platform processes 7,500 requests every second, supported by over 100 services hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a deployment frequency of 1,500 times each month.

Your Contribution:

At loveholidays, our website stands out as the fastest in the sector, thanks to our remarkable engineers who relentlessly pursue enhancements in every aspect of their work. The Web Infrastructure team is essential for sustaining the performance and scalability of our site, significantly improving our customers' interactions. We also explore advanced content management through artificial intelligence and develop our state-of-the-art in-house experimentation platform.

The Lead Web Engineer will be instrumental in advancing our web functionalities. This position is vital for optimizing performance, refining our content management system, and ensuring our web infrastructure scales effectively to seize new market opportunities. You will be at the forefront of our goal to deliver high-quality, scalable digital content and features.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Enhance efficiencies by streamlining and simplifying front-end architecture and workflows.
  • Automate content management and translation processes utilizing AI and other innovative technologies.
  • Improve user experience by optimizing our A/B testing configurations and user allocation systems.
  • Refine our services on Fastly.
  • Develop and maintain our scalable, self-service content management platform.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in constructing and optimizing scalable, high-performance websites.
  • In-depth knowledge of web performance engineering principles, algorithms, software design, and relevant technologies (e.g., CDNs, WAFs, Edge Computing).
  • Strong emphasis on addressing user challenges and delivering business value through technology.
  • Practical experience with front-end frameworks and tools.
  • Expertise in automation and configuration management.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster efficiency and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Preact and Vite.
  • Prior experience with Fastly and developing Edge Compute services.
  • Active participation in open-source projects.
