Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader to oversee the operations of our Children's Care Home in London. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing residential care services for children and young people, ensuring the highest standards of care, safety, and support. As the leader of our care home, you will be responsible for the overall management of the home, including compliance with regulatory requirements, staff leadership, and creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Provide strong leadership to the care home team, ensuring a positive, supportive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality care.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring that all activities are in line with organizational policies and procedures.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that the home operates in full compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Prepare for and lead on regulatory inspections, addressing any recommendations or requirements promptly.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes, conducting regular audits to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.

Child Care and Safeguarding:

  • Promote a child-centered approach to care, ensuring that the individual needs, preferences, and aspirations of each child are met.
  • Ensure that all safeguarding procedures are followed, with the safety and well-being of the children being the top priority.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of care plans, ensuring they are tailored to the specific needs of each child.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, their families, staff, and external stakeholders, including local authorities and healthcare professionals.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external agencies and parents, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Foster an open and inclusive environment where children and their families feel heard and supported.

Financial and Resource Management:

  • Manage the care home's budget, ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Monitor and control expenditures, ensuring value for money without compromising quality.
  • Prepare and present financial and operational reports to senior management as required.
Requirements:

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a leader in a children's care home or similar setting.
  • A thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People) or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs or challenging behaviors.
  • Experience in managing budgets and financial oversight.
