Behaviour Support Specialist

We are seeking a Behaviour Support Specialist to join our team at a specialist school in Derbyshire. The school serves children and young people aged 5 to 19 with Autism (ASC), speech and language disorders (SLCN), moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), and associated behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies throughout the school, working closely with staff to proactively reduce behavior-related incidents and minimize the use of restrictive physical interventions.
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of positive behaviour strategies while ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualification for working in a special needs residential school, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care for Children & Young People, Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a school or social care setting.
  • Strong commitment to best practices in education and care, with a focus on reducing restraint and ensuring a safe environment for young people.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
