Job Title: SEND Education Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEND Education Specialist to join our team at Empowering Learning. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and be able to teach a range of age groups and individual needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching multiple subjects within a SEND school
  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
  • Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
  • Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
  • Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
  • Possibly supervising on lunch and break times
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Building relationships with staff and pupils
  • Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
  • Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
  • To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils

Requirements:

  • Tutoring or training experience
  • Experience of leading learning sessions
  • High level of understanding different SEND and learning styles
  • Ability to teach across the age groups
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary age curriculum expectations
  • Highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards
