Property Stores Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Property Stores Assistant to join our team at Gwent Police. As a Property Stores Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and secure storage, retention, and disposal of evidential property.
Key Responsibilities- Follow the Programme of Work set by the EPU Lead, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Audit evidential property to ensure it is retained or disposed of in accordance with force policy and legislation.
- Highlight items of evidential property for central disposal, including collating items for sale via eBay or Wilson's Auction.
- Identify and report exhibits incorrectly packaged to the EPU Lead.
- Collate items identified for return to owner and store them appropriately.
- Comply with force operating procedures for equipment operation, ensuring compliance with statutory health and safety duties.
- Highlight instances of risk from hazardous material that may cause fire or contamination to store property.
- Minimum of five grade A-C GCSE's or equivalent minimum standards.
- Previous experience working in a secure stores environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Understanding of the seizure, preservation, storage, and disposal of Evidential Property is desirable.
- Understanding of the criminal justice process in relation to the continuity and submission of court exhibits and the defence disclosure process.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Good knowledge of stores administration, procedures, and practices.
- Understanding of CPIA, PoFA, and MoPI guidelines.
- Understanding of ACPO, Home Office, and NPIA guidance relating to the seizure, storage, and disposal of property.
- Prepared to undertake NICHE RMS and NICHE Property Training.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to travel independently to given locations within and outside the Force area.
- Ability to drive Force vehicles, including light goods vehicles.
- Physically fit and able to lift and carry heavy items up to 15 kilos in weight.
- Ability to operate stores equipment up to an operating height of at least 6 metres.
