Research Associate in Superconducting Electrical Machines

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team in the Institute for Energy Systems, School of Engineering, College of Science & Engineering at The University of Edinburgh.
About the RoleThis is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, working full-time (35 hours per week). The successful candidate will be part of a team investigating novel topologies of superconducting electrical machines for energy and transport applications.
The SuperMachine ProjectThe SuperMachine project, funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies program, aims to deliver enabling technologies for high power density and high efficiency electrical machines using high temperature superconductors (HTS) and composite structural materials.
Your Skills and Attributes- PhD in Superconducting Electrical Machines or a related field.
- Experience in electromagnetic, structural, and thermal modelling of electrical machines and their control.
- Setting up test rigs for experimental work.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in presenting at conferences and writing technical reports.
- Creativity and flexibility in working as part of a team and independently.
