About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant at Polaris Community. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our pupils.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentorship and Support: Provide dedicated support and guidance to one pupil or a small group of up to five pupils, promoting their academic and personal growth.
  • Classroom Support: Collaborate with the Classroom Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly report on pupils' progress and concerns, working closely with other staff members to ensure their needs are met.
  • Supervision and Activities: Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips, promoting their social and emotional development.
  • Lesson Planning and Preparation: Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation, ensuring a well-structured and engaging learning environment.
  • Setting Work and Feedback: Set work and provide constructive feedback to pupils, promoting their academic growth and development.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Hold a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
  • Previous Experience: Possess previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant, and some experience of working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within an educational setting.
  • Leadership and Behaviour Management: Be experienced and confident in leading on a specialism, such as Reading, Mathematics, or Forest School, and possess effective behaviour management techniques.
  • Professional Development: Be committed to ongoing professional development and willing to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • DBS Check: Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work, with any costs incurred being met by Polaris Community.
