About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tunnel Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a Tunnel Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of underground infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop tunnel infrastructure projects, including tunnels, shafts, and other underground structures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and other project team members.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex tunnel engineering problems.

Requirements

  • Chartered status or close to submitting chartership in civil or structural engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead tunnel design teams.
  • Proven post-graduation experience, with a significant proportion gained with an engineering design company undertaking the design of tunnels or related infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of advanced constitutive soil models and experience of numerical modelling software (FLAC or PLAXIS).
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients.
  • Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs.
