As the Head of Platform Engineering, you will be instrumental in leading and overseeing the development and operation of our Enterprise Hosting Platforms, which include both AWS and Azure environments. You will spearhead the advancement and adoption of our platform tooling solutions, designed to empower developers in delivering innovative solutions efficiently. Additionally, you will work on expanding our tooling platform to encompass Azure and streamline our cloud hosting services, ensuring a reliable service offering for the department.
Your role will involve providing leadership, strategic direction, and management of a growing team of technical engineering specialists. You will oversee the daily operations of a team of approximately eight platform engineers and developers, collaborating closely with the Head of Architecture/Cyber and our ICS Digital Delivery colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps for technologies and services within your purview, ensuring they are future-ready and maximize the value derived from technology investments.
- Collaborate with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operational frameworks and support their implementation.
- Lead and maintain the capabilities of infrastructure specialist teams in building, managing, and supporting solutions in accordance with established policies.
- Facilitate integrations with other products and new services into production environments.
- Review existing implementation strategies and workflows, identifying areas for improvement.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or in a similar capacity, demonstrating technical proficiency in cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.
- Extensive background in building, maintaining, and deploying enterprise monitoring and alerting tools across complex environments.
- Strong senior leadership capabilities.
- Experience in developing strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps for technologies and services, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and advocate for the adoption of emerging technologies.
- Expertise in managing operational relationships between internal stakeholders and critical third-party suppliers, aligning services with best practices and regulatory standards.

Office Attendance
