Position Overview:

As a key member of the Facilities Maintenance team, the Facilities Maintenance Support Specialist will deliver effective and efficient assistance to ensure the smooth operation of the premises. Collaborating closely with the Facilities Manager, this role is essential in maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to Health and Safety regulations in both approach and execution.

Work Schedule:

This position requires availability Monday to Friday, serving as a casual worker to cover for absences due to holidays and sickness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all equipment and systems within the facility are maintained effectively, making necessary adjustments and reporting any defects to the Facilities Manager for further action.
  • Assist in the timely testing of life safety systems and ensure that any required remedial work is executed promptly, whether through subcontractors or on-site personnel.
  • Perform additional site-related tasks as requested, within the scope of capabilities.
  • Execute reasonable duties as assigned by the Line Manager, contributing to the overall functionality of the role.
  • Undertake porterage tasks as needed, including the setup and breakdown of furniture, ensuring efficiency in workload management.
  • Conduct painting and decorating tasks as required.
  • Carry out minor electrical tasks, such as changing light bulbs.
  • Perform first-line maintenance on fixtures and fittings, including tightening screws on window hinges and addressing minor repairs following incidents of vandalism or break-ins.
  • Unblock sinks, traps, and waste pipes, and adjust or rewash taps as necessary.
  • Address any maintenance tasks within capability as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Report emergencies regarding gas, electric, and water supply faults to the Facilities Manager without delay.
  • Assist and escort visiting personnel, such as contractors, as required.
  • Utilize the Facilities Management System (FMS) helpdesk to report, respond to, update, and close job requests in collaboration with the Facilities Manager.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Facilities Manager to discuss and resolve any challenges or issues encountered.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and any other relevant legislation.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as necessary within the overall function of the job.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English is preferred.
  • Numerate and literate.
  • Practical mindset with the ability to use initiative.
  • Capability to multitask effectively.
  • Well-presented with a confident demeanor.
