Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Strategic Supplier Lead who excels in leadership and possesses a robust background in navigating complex, commercially driven environments. This role will concentrate on collaborating with the organization to formulate supplier strategies with our essential partners while managing relationships with high-level stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment.

The Senior Supplier Lead will:

  • Oversee and effectively guide a team of Supplier Managers, maintaining full responsibility for a portfolio of suppliers crucial to our service commitments.
  • Navigate a multifaceted stakeholder landscape, as each supplier may be involved in various strategic initiatives, ensuring effective engagement throughout all phases: from Concept to Contract, Contract to Market, and Market to Retirement.
  • Identify and create collaborative opportunities with our strategic partners that yield value beyond contractual obligations, while also reporting on the value generated.
  • Administer the third-party risk management framework to provide early alerts regarding supply chain issues, ensuring that we monitor key supplier risks and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies.
  • Establish the appropriate forums for Smart DCC to leverage supplier innovation and value engineering, working closely with the technology organization to integrate new innovations into programs and ongoing services.
  • Stay informed about advancements in Supplier Management and cultivate best-in-class supplier relationship management practices based on industry standards.
  • Proactively manage supplier relationships, fostering trust-based interactions and addressing escalations through a consistent, proactive approach.

Strategic Focus

The role emphasizes securing supplier commitment for investments in innovation that will be vital for achieving our objectives over the next decade:

  • Develop forward-thinking supplier strategies aimed at value creation, aligned with our Business Development Plan, technology roadmap, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, and commercial strategies.
  • Lead the identification and execution of comprehensive strategic initiatives, mutually agreed upon with suppliers, focusing on value addition, risk management, performance enhancement, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Embed a governance framework across Smart DCC and strategic suppliers, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and meeting schedules to facilitate ongoing engagement and support the delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to the balanced scorecard for Smart DCC, manage supplier feedback mechanisms, and identify areas for enhancement to develop strategic initiatives.
  • Organize significant strategic events between Smart DCC and suppliers to foster collaboration.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of supplier performance and market dynamics, acting as the internal expert to inform procurement strategies and sourcing plans.

Qualifications and Skills

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience and a strong track record in Supplier Relationship Management or Customer Relationship Management across various service sectors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of procurement practices, including supplier spend analysis, contract management, and vendor performance oversight.
  • Ability to identify, cultivate, and manage strategic supplier relationships effectively.
  • Innovative and solution-oriented mindset, focused on cost and value optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading supplier segmentation initiatives and enhancing supplier capabilities.
  • Proficient in monitoring and addressing potential supplier risks, including financial stability and compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Capability to independently design and implement KPIs to assess supplier performance and drive improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate trends across multiple contracts and maximize value from supplier relationships.
  • Attention to detail and a proven ability to operate transparently in a regulated environment.
