Job Title: Muslim Hospital Chaplain

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Muslim Chaplain to join our Chaplaincy team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide spiritual and religious care to patients and staff, working alongside Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) and within a Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious care to patients, relatives, and staff within the Trust, working within the multi-faith team.
  • Offer specialist pastoral, spiritual, and religious advice and care for Muslim patients, families, and staff.
  • Maintain, participate in, and develop pastoral, spiritual, and religious care in the Trust through providing support, training, and facilitation of reflective practice.
  • Assist with the supervision and direction of chaplaincy support for all, including recruitment, training, and support of chaplaincy volunteers.

Requirements:
  • Degree-level training in a subject relevant to healthcare chaplaincy, including systematic study in theology, religious studies, pastoral care, psychology, counseling, or psychotherapy.
  • A professional chaplaincy identity rooted in one's own religious/spiritual/pastoral heritage, integrating professional values and behaviors, skills, and specialist knowledge.
  • A commitment to one's own professional and personal development, including theological and ethical reflection, spiritual growth, and formation.
  • Full participation in Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust's (CHFT) mandatory Essential Skills Training.
Person Specification:
  • Essential qualifications and training.
  • Substantial experience in healthcare chaplaincy or the equivalent in a pastoral care setting.
  • Significant work with people from diverse backgrounds, including those of faith and no faith.
  • Counseling/pastoral skills.
