We are seeking a qualified and experienced Muslim Chaplain to join our Chaplaincy team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
Job Summary:This is a part-time position, working 25 hours per week over 4 days, including Fridays. The successful candidate will be required to work on-call 1 in 4 weekends and some public holidays.
Main Responsibilities:- Provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious care to patients, relatives, and staff within the Trust, working within the multi-faith team.
- Offer specialist pastoral, spiritual, and religious advice and care for Muslim patients, families, and staff.
- Maintain, participate in, and develop pastoral, spiritual, and religious care in the Trust through providing support, training, and facilitation of reflective practice.
- Assist with the supervision and direction of chaplaincy support for all, including recruitment, training, and support of chaplaincy volunteers.
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is a leading healthcare provider, employing over 6,500 staff and delivering compassionate care from two main hospitals and community sites. We are proud to have almost 150 volunteers supporting our services.
Requirements:- Degree-level training in a subject relevant to healthcare chaplaincy, including systematic study in theology, religious studies, pastoral care, psychology, counselling, or psychotherapy.
- A professional chaplaincy identity rooted in one's own religious/spiritual/pastoral heritage, integrating professional values and behaviours, skills, and specialist knowledge.
- Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development, including theological and ethical reflection, spiritual growth, and formation.
- Full participation in Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust's mandatory Essential Skills Training and attendance at study days and team meetings arranged by the chaplaincy.
- Essential qualifications and training in healthcare chaplaincy.
- Accreditation/acknowledged status for faith/belief community leadership role.
- Commitment to ongoing training and development.
- Desirable qualifications and training in chaplaincy-related disciplines.
- Registration with the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplains or eligibility to register.
- Substantial experience in healthcare chaplaincy or equivalent in a pastoral care setting.
- Significant work with people from diverse backgrounds, including faith and no faith.
- Counselling/pastoral skills.
- Able to lead Islamic services and non-religious ceremonies in a sensitive and adaptable manner.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting and promoting shared decision-making.
- Ability to regulate own workload and work on own initiative.
- Establish effective relationships and maintain cooperation with others.
- Trustworthy, with careful attention to individual and specific needs, and an approach that values and affirms the rights of those outside the chaplain's own tradition.
