We are currently seeking a Senior Planning Strategist to become a part of our welcoming team. This position is primarily remote, with the flexibility to travel to various sites as needed. This role is offered as a fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Planning Strategist plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of mineral resources and land through effective negotiation of land rights and securing Planning Permissions. This position encompasses both new project development and the ongoing management of rights and permissions for existing operations.

During your tenure, your responsibilities will include land management, with a primary focus on overseeing planning applications and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs). You will collaborate closely with external experts, regulatory bodies, local communities, and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will provide guidance to operational teams regarding compliance with existing planning permissions. Experience in broader land management will be beneficial.

Ideal Candidate Profile

To excel in the role of Senior Planning Strategist, you should possess:

  • Relevant experience in the practical and legal aspects of the Planning process in England and Wales, as well as Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
  • A proactive approach to self-management and a commitment to developing and maintaining essential skills.

You will be capable of:

  • Collaborating with internal and external specialists to assess technical inputs and project designs.
  • Engaging effectively with communities, regulators, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Managing and directing external consultant teams and associated expenditures.

Qualifications

Chartered membership through RICS, RTPI, and/or IEMA professional bodies is preferred. While prior experience in Minerals Planning or Estates is advantageous, we are open to considering transferable skills from related fields.
