The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join our team, responsible for executing our underwriting strategy and developing our underwriting appetite. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will work closely with our Pricing and Technology teams, as well as other stakeholders across the business, to drive business growth and improve financial performance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute the underwriting strategy for our motor insurance products, working closely with the product delivery team.
- Contribute to the management of portfolio performance through analysis of results, execution of selection and pricing strategies, and provision of recommendations for continuous performance improvement.
- Provide input to refine our underwriting appetite to ensure we take advantage of market opportunities and outperform our peers through superior risk selection and proactive management of our business mix.
- Act as a point of technical referral for other members of the underwriting team, brokers, and internal functions, using your extensive risk, product, and pricing knowledge to inform decisions.
- Provide feedback to Product Managers and Heads of Class on the effectiveness of our risk pricing models to drive enhanced sophistication and accuracy.
- Work closely with all areas of the business to deliver a clear and seamless set of propositions to the market.
- Contribute to the identification and mitigation of key risks that threaten the success and sustainability of our business.
- Establish and maintain value-adding relationships with key partners, ensuring we understand and satisfy their needs and those of their customers.
This role requires a Senior Underwriter with extensive technical knowledge of motor insurance products, including features, market dynamics, and customer requirements. You will possess an analytical mindset, comprehensive skills using Microsoft Excel, and the ability to produce coherent and comprehensive Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Commercial awareness, pricing practices, and methodologies are also essential, as is the ability to build and maintain value-adding relationships.
