Job Title: Electronics Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of electronic systems, from initial specifications to deployment.
  • Maintenance of current designs and execution of technology integration programs.
  • Support for off-site testing activities.
  • Testing of high voltage alternators utilizing specialized equipment.
  • Conduct tests on customer platforms.
  • Translate requirements into detailed design specifications.
  • Component selection, schematic design, and assistance with PCB layout.
  • Specification of custom procured items.
  • Collaboration with related disciplines such as mechanical/thermal engineering, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Safety, and Production.
  • Adhere to the engineering lifecycle and participate in progress, peer, and design reviews.
  • Design, develop, and demonstrate system integrations.
  • Analyze fiber optic systems using power meters and Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs).

Required Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering or a closely related field, along with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in a defense or high safety integrity environment.
  • Ability to generate component-level designs for mass production using computer-aided engineering.
  • Proven expertise in analog circuit analysis.
  • Solid understanding of basic analog signal processing techniques, including active filtering.
  • Knowledge of power supply design and decoupling techniques.
  • Experience with analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion.
  • Integration, design validation, and defect resolution.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in fiber optics, power electronics, and testing methodologies would be beneficial.
  • Ability to collaborate with PCB designers and provide guidance on circuit layout for electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent capability, or actively working towards Chartered Engineer status.

About the Underwater Weapons Team: As an Electronics Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the electronic components of torpedo design, repair, and maintenance.
