Job Title: Experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant Required

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a fantastic Social Emotional Mental Health school in Redbridge. The school caters for boys and girls with mental health needs and/or other additional special education needs that all have an educational health care plan (EHCP).

The ideal candidate will have experience or a passion for working with children with SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs. They will be flexible, proactive, and patient, with a nurturing and caring approach. Effective communication within a team is essential, and the ability to provide personal care is also required.

The role involves supporting small class sizes of 5-6 children and 1:1 work, requiring flexibility and a proactive approach. The school offers fantastic opportunities for professional development and continuous support from the senior leadership team and specialist colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with SEMH needs in a small class setting
  • Provide 1:1 support to children with SEMH needs
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers to ensure consistency and support
  • Provide personal care and support to children as needed

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly SEMH needs
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide personal care and support to children
  • Background in Education, Care, Psychology, or Drama
