Position Overview:

As a key member of the Facilities Maintenance team, the Facilities Maintenance Support Specialist will deliver reliable and effective assistance to the premises. Collaborating closely with the Facilities Manager, this role is essential in maintaining a secure working environment by adhering to Health and Safety regulations in both approach and execution.

Work Schedule:

This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, serving as a casual worker to cover for absences due to holidays and sickness, as well as providing additional support as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all equipment and systems within the facility are maintained efficiently, making necessary adjustments and reporting any defects to the Facilities Manager for further action.
  • Assist in the timely testing of life safety systems, ensuring that any required remedial work is executed promptly, whether by subcontractors or at the site level.
  • Perform other site-related tasks as requested, within your capabilities.
  • Execute additional reasonable duties as assigned by your Line Manager.
  • Manage porterage tasks, including the setup and breakdown of furniture, ensuring these are completed promptly through effective workload planning.
  • Engage in painting and decorating tasks as required.
  • Conduct minor electrical work as needed, such as changing light bulbs.
  • Provide first-line maintenance for fixtures and fittings, including tightening screws on window hinges and making temporary repairs following incidents of break-ins or vandalism.
  • Unblock sinks, traps, and waste pipes, and adjust or rewash taps as necessary.
  • Carry out any other maintenance tasks within your capabilities as requested by the Facilities Manager.
  • Immediately report emergencies related to gas, electric, or water supply faults to the Facilities Manager.
  • Attend to and escort visiting personnel, such as contractors, as required.
  • Utilize the Facilities Management System (FMS) helpdesk to ensure all job requests are reported, prioritized, updated, and closed in collaboration with the Facilities Manager.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Facilities Manager to discuss and resolve any challenges or issues encountered.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and all relevant legislation.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as part of the overall function of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent English speaker (preferred)
  • Numerate and literate
  • Practical approach with the ability to use initiative
  • Capability to multitask effectively
  • Well-presented with a confident demeanor
