Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Practice Educator for our Acute Medical Units in University Hospitals Dorset. The post holder will be a nurse with advanced clinical skills and an expert knowledge base, responsible for the educational development of our Acute Medical Units.

Main Duties
  • Support the provision of professional leadership for nurses and Health Care Assistants working in the directorate.
  • Work alongside staff during their shift to sign off competencies and aid training and development for all nurses.
  • Identify the learning and development needs of Nursing and Healthcare staff working in Acute Medicine.
  • Develop a learning framework and competencies to be used in supporting and signing off Core Clinical competencies and specific skills identified by Acute Medicine.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within their sphere of responsibility.

Person Specification
  • NMC registered Nurse
  • Learning and assessing in clinical practice
  • Educated to Degree Level or relevant experience/qualifications
  • Leadership Qualification or experience
Technical Skills/Competencies
  • Computer literacy with a wide range of software's
  • Databases and spread sheets
  • Advanced clinical skills as appropriate
  • Advanced communication skills using a range of methods (verbal, written, report writing)
