About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to join our Family Safeguarding Service in Bury. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with families to safeguard children and provide specialist assessment and interventions for parents with mental health issues.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct mental health needs and risk screening assessments for families
  • Consult with teams within the Family Safeguarding Service on mental health issues
  • Attend team meetings and group supervisions as needed
  • Assist service users in engaging with adult mental health services and contribute to service evaluation measures
  • Undertake short-term supportive, psychologically informed intervention work with parents
  • Co-facilitate training and workshops on mental health difficulties

The Family Safeguarding Service is based within Bury Council, and the Mental Health Practitioners are employed by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. We offer a range of services, including secondary mental health care, NHS Talking Therapies, and child/adolescent services. We prioritize a positive work/life balance and offer flexible working arrangements, including term-time, part-time, and compressed hours.

Person Specification
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or other professional registered qualification in a health or social care field
  • Post-qualification experience of clinical work with service users experiencing mental health issues
  • Evidence of assessment across a range of mental health problems
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of risk assessment and management
  • In-depth knowledge of mental health issues and diversity and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Ability to deal sensitively with stressful situations
