Role Overview:

The Offshore Electrical Equipment Engineer plays a vital role in the Renewable Energy sector, focusing on the successful delivery of major electrical equipment packages for offshore wind projects. This position involves collaborating with diverse teams across Europe and may require travel to support contract negotiations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, tender, and appoint necessary electrical design tasks to establish a comprehensive electrical design framework for project development.
  • Oversee the provision of essential electrical equipment design data for various design studies and activities.
  • Lead the scope of work for the main electrical equipment package, ensuring specifications and designs meet project standards and industry best practices.
  • Document all assessments and recommendations in line with internal procedures and industry standards.
  • Stay informed about the latest technical advancements and identify innovative technologies that could enhance cost-effectiveness and safety.
  • Review contractor documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and negotiate necessary adjustments with suppliers.
  • Manage quality assurance inspections and witness critical tests during the manufacturing phase of electrical equipment.
  • Support the commissioning team to ensure successful installation and operation of all supplied equipment.
  • Facilitate the capture and sharing of lessons learned from offshore wind project development and operations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with EHV/HV electrical equipment for large-scale offshore wind farms.
  • Proven experience in electrical and grid works related to offshore wind and transmission projects.
  • Experience in engineering, procurement, and construction or operation of EHV/HV equipment.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline; advanced degrees are advantageous.
  • Extensive background in power generation, transmission, or networks sector.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in construction and offshore projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing electrical equipment design, procurement, and installation projects.
  • Ability to influence key project decisions and demonstrate effective planning and problem-solving skills.
