Position Overview:

Meridian Medical Limited is in search of a skilled Injection Moulding Technical Manager to oversee the Moulding Production team, following the retirement of the current manager. This role involves managing a team of 21 employees across various shifts and ensuring the effective operation of the Class 8 cleanroom mould shop, which is equipped with 12 injection moulding machines of varying capacities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership:
    • Oversee daily operations of the Moulding Production team.
    • Monitor team performance, including training and compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Collaborate with management to resolve production challenges.
    • Work with senior leadership to implement the Mouldshop enhancement strategy.
    • Enhance team efficiency through ongoing coaching and support.
  2. Tooling Oversight:
    • Manage all aspects of mould tooling maintenance and service, coordinating with external suppliers.
    • Serve as the primary contact for customer tooling inquiries.
    • Request and manage quotes for new tooling and repairs.
    • Ensure timely delivery of tooling from suppliers.
  3. Quality Assurance:
    • Support initiatives for quality management and waste reduction.
    • Ensure production areas meet necessary certifications.
    • Collaborate with the Health & Safety Manager to fulfill safety obligations.
  4. Process Improvement:
    • Engage in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for new tooling and components.
    • Apply lean methodologies to optimize production processes.
    • Maintain low scrap rates in production.
    • Ensure adherence to production schedules.
  5. Client Engagement:
    • Foster strong relationships with customers and address inquiries professionally.
    • Travel to client locations as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Experience in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years in injection moulding tooling management or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an injection moulding environment.

Skills:

  • Expertise in lean methodologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of injection mould tooling and the plastics sector.
  • Proficient in CAD software and project management tools.
  • Strong computer skills, including CAD data handling and project planning.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills.
  • Valid driving license with the ability to travel.

Training and Development:

  • Comprehensive training on internal systems and processes.
  • Product training across various production areas.
  • Opportunity to work closely with the outgoing Mouldshop Manager during the transition period.
