Position Overview:
In light of an upcoming retirement, Meridian Medical Limited is in search of a seasoned Injection Moulding Technical Manager with a robust background in mould tool manufacturing to lead and support the Moulding Production team. This team consists of 21 professionals operating across various shifts. The selected candidate will be tasked with overseeing the organization and planning of the Class 8 cleanroom mould shop, which is equipped with 12 injection mould machines, ranging from 25 to 220 tonnes, including equipment from leading manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Production Oversight:
- Oversee daily operations of the Moulding Production team.
- Manage team performance, including training, health and safety compliance, and attendance.
- Collaborate with other management personnel to resolve production challenges.
- Partner with the Managing Director to implement the Mouldshop enhancement strategy.
- Enhance production team efficiency through ongoing coaching and development.
- Tooling Oversight:
- Supervise all mould tooling maintenance and servicing, coordinating with external suppliers.
- Act as the primary contact for clients regarding tooling inquiries.
- Facilitate quotations and manage supplier relationships for new tools and repairs.
- Ensure timely delivery of tooling from suppliers.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Support initiatives for quality management, waste reduction, and environmental sustainability.
- Ensure production areas adhere to necessary certifications.
- Collaborate closely with the Health & Safety Manager to fulfill health and safety requirements.
- Project and Process Optimization:
- Engage in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for new components and tooling.
- Apply lean methodologies (e.g., 5S) to enhance production processes.
- Maintain low scrap levels in production.
- Ensure adherence to production timelines and deadlines.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Foster strong customer relationships and manage inquiries professionally.
- Travel to client locations as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- Proven experience in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in injection moulding tooling management or manufacturing.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within an injection moulding environment.
Skills:
- Expertise in lean methodologies (5S).
- Comprehensive knowledge of injection mould tooling, tool making, and the plastics sector.
- Proficient in CAD software and project management tools.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to interpret CAD data and manage project planning.
- Exceptional customer relationship management skills.
- Valid driving license with the ability to travel to client sites.
Training and Development:
