About the Science Academic Mentor Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Science Academic Mentor to join our team at a large Secondary School in Barnet. As a Science Academic Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students from Year 7 to Year 13 in achieving their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students in a classroom setting, in 1:1 meetings, or small group interventions.
  • Work with high achieving students as well as students who aren't quite hitting their targets, providing the same level of care and attention to their work.
  • Support students in developing their scientific knowledge and skills, and help them to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to deliver a high-quality education to students.
Requirements:
  • A good Science Degree from a Top 25 UK University.
  • An interest in enrolling in a Teacher Training Programme, a PGCE, or working with children in the future.
  • The ability to teach engaging lessons to students up to KS5.
  • Tutoring experience is advantageous.
  • A passion for teaching students from a range of backgrounds in a diverse and inclusive environment.
