Science Academic Mentor Role

We are seeking a highly academic Science Graduate to join our team as a Science Academic Mentor at a reputable Secondary School in Kensington & Chelsea.

About the Role

This Science Academic Mentor position involves delivering 1:1 and small-group Science tutoring sessions to KS3 and KS4 students, supporting them in catching up with topics they may have missed out on last year.

As a Science Academic Mentor, you will be responsible for breaking down complicated Science concepts into easily understandable language, making you an ideal candidate if you are considering a future career as a Science Teacher but want to gain additional classroom experience first.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group Science tutoring sessions
  • Supporting KS3 and KS4 students in catching up with Science topics
  • Breaking down complicated Science concepts into easily understandable language
  • Working closely with students to identify areas of improvement and develop strategies for success
  • Collaborating with teachers to ensure seamless integration with the curriculum
Requirements

To be considered for this Science Academic Mentor role, you will need to be a highly academic Science Graduate with a 2:1 or First-Class degree from a top UK University. You will also need to demonstrate an excellent track record of attainment in your GCSE and A-Levels.

Alongside fantastic academics, you will need to be able to show you are passionate about Science and have the ability to pass this enthusiasm on to the students you are working with. You will have a patient and encouraging nature, an adaptable and creative mindset, and the determination to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of c. £23,000, pro rata to term time only, paid weekly on a PAYE basis. This Science Academic Mentor role also offers opportunities to progress onto ITT from September 2024.
