About the Role

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking two experienced clinicians to join our team of Acute Medicine Consultants. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality acute care to patients across our Acute Assessment Units and Same Day Emergency Care unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing High-Quality Consultant-Delivered Care to patients, ensuring the highest standard of care is maintained at all times.
  • Undertaking Clinical Leadership and Supervision, teaching and training of junior medical staff to ensure the development of our team's skills and expertise.
  • Contributing to the Ongoing Development of our acute medicine services, working closely with colleagues to improve the delivery of care to acutely unwell medical patients.
  • Ability to Work in a Flexible Manner, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities to ensure the smooth delivery of services.
  • Commitment to the Development of Acute Medical Services within the trust, driving innovation and improvement in our services.
  • Recent Comprehensive Experience in Acute Medicine and Respiratory Medicine, with a strong understanding of the complexities of acute care.
  • Formal Leadership Training, with experience in clinical supervision and teaching junior medical staff.
  • CCT or HST in Respiratory Medicine, with additional experience working in dedicated Medical Admissions units or equivalent.
  • Attendance at 'Teaching the Teachers' or Similar Training Course in Medical Education, with a higher degree such as a PhD, MD, or equivalent.
