Job Opportunity: Laboratory Robotics Support Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Robotics Support Engineer to join our team at Labman Automation Ltd. in Liverpool. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our bespoke laboratory automation systems.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering, with experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex electro-mechanical systems. You will be working with a variety of scientific equipment, including robotic arms, and will be responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance and planned improvements.

As a Laboratory Robotics Support Engineer, you will be part of a small team of engineers based in our Liverpool office, with regular visits to our headquarters in North Yorkshire and opportunities to travel within the UK and internationally. You will be working with a highly talented multifunctional team and will have the opportunity to build on your skills in a range of engineering disciplines.

We offer a competitive salary, 33 days annual holiday (rising to 38 over 5 years), and enhanced maternity pay. You will also have access to CPD support and annual subscription to appropriate bodies, as well as a cycle to work scheme.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and planned improvements.
  • Respond to system breakdowns and loss of performance.
  • Provide technical support both on site and remotely.
  • Fault finding and problem-solving with support from specialist teams.
  • Log and document all support work according to internal guidelines.
  • Identify upgrades and improvements of customer systems.
  • Collaborate professionally with customers to build on Labman's reputation.
  • Work well within a team, both in person and remotely.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Robotics, Software or similar/applicable work-based experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills, including decision making, clear communication, research, and analysis skills.
  • Competent in IT and Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word.
  • Able to commute daily to the Materials Innovation Factory, Liverpool.
  • Willing to travel to Labman HQ in North Yorkshire for training and development.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritise work.
  • Customer-oriented and positive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
