Our team has varied expertise in many aspects of Computing, AI, and related disciplines, and we are engaged in a variety of HPC-centric research projects, including Horizon Europe and Destination Earth.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly technical and team-thinking Research Engineer to join our HPC & AI EMEA Research Lab (ERL) team. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work on both short- and longer-term research projects, aligned with the UK AI infrastructure Isambard-AI, and will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy high-performance computing and AI software stacks on supercomputers.
  • Provide new environments and abstractions to support application developers to build, deploy, and run AI applications taking advantage of leading-edge hardware at scale.
  • Manage modern data-intensive AI training and inference workloads in these environments.
  • Collaborate with research partners across Europe to advance the state-of-the-art in HPC and AI.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and innovations that drive business growth and competitiveness.

Requirements:

  • Good working knowledge of AI/ML frameworks, at least TensorFlow and PyTorch, as well as data preparation, handling, and lineage control, and model deployment in a distributed environment.
  • Development experience in compiled languages such as C, C++, or Fortran and experience with interpreted environments such as Python.
  • Parallel programming experience, with relevant programming models such as OpenMP, MPI, CUDA, OpenACC, HIP, PGAS languages, etc.
  • Experience in one or more domain-specific software ecosystems (e.g. weather and climate, computational fluid dynamics, AI, data science).
  • Experience working on EU projects and research consortia.
