Job Title: Senior Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist

We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to join our team as a Senior Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Integrated Care Board to improve the quality of care for patients across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of medicines optimisation strategies across our Integrated Care System. This will involve working closely with our clinical teams, primary care networks, and other stakeholders to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement medicines optimisation strategies across our Integrated Care System
  • Lead the development and implementation of antimicrobial stewardship initiatives
  • Work closely with clinical teams, primary care networks, and other stakeholders to ensure that patients receive the best possible care
  • Provide specialist medicines and therapeutic advice to inform practices on priorities and actions, and the treatment of patients
  • Develop policies and implement processes to ensure medicines are handled safely and risk and quality standards are achieved at locality and practice levels
  • Deliver medicines education and training (legal, policy and therapeutics) to localities/practices to increase safe and evidence-based prescribing
  • Lead delivery of therapeutic education and information to support evidence-based prescribing
  • Maintain and improve proactive prescribing information sources, sites, and bulletins/newsletters to inform safe and cost-effective use of medicines
Requirements
  • Registered with the GPhC
  • Pharmacy Masters Degree or equivalent postgraduate masters or diploma in clinical pharmacy/management or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Good knowledge of ICB and relationship with NHSE and the ICS
  • Experience of implementing current healthcare policy
  • Experience of working in a similar organisation/environment and successfully influencing and managing stakeholders
