Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Initial Risk Underwriter to join our team at Legal & General Resources Limited.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and Document Risks: Accurately review customer applications to identify risk factors and assess whether we can offer Life, Critical Illness Cover, and Income Protection applications.
  • Customer Service: Address customer requirements in an efficient and professional manner, ensuring that the agreed service levels are met or exceeded to deliver exceptional customer experience.
  • Complaints Handling: Identify complaints and escalate to an authorized complaints handler to ensure timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure all work is accurately recorded daily to enable effective communication and business decision-making.
  • Legislative Compliance: Maintain an excellent knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Communication: Communicate with internal and external customers, as well as third parties, in a professional and efficient manner to maximize customer satisfaction and meet expectations.
  • Service Commitments: Understand the commitments made about the level of service during the marketing and sales processes, ensuring the area is capable of meeting those expectations and customers' reasonable expectations of performance and service are met.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Experience working within a financial services organization.
  • Risk Knowledge: An understanding of the risk factors for mortality and morbidity (desirable).
  • Product Knowledge: Basic knowledge of all protection products (desirable).
  • Legislative Awareness: Understanding of legislations and regulatory requirements would be preferable.
  • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication through all media, e.g., telephony, letter writing, participation in meetings, forums, and presentations.
