Harrow, United Kingdom London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

This role is classified as a Band 8a position, but we encourage applications from candidates at a Band 7 level who are interested in advancing through a development or preceptorship program to Band 8a, typically over a month-long period.

An exciting opportunity has emerged within a dynamic neuropsychology team that offers exceptional support and professional growth within our Psychological Services Network, specifically in the Stroke team. As a recognized center of excellence, we provide comprehensive care to stroke survivors in a variety of settings, including inpatient units and home-based environments. This position includes opportunities to enhance teaching, service development, and supervision skills, along with access to both internal and external continuing professional development (CPD).

The full-time community role is expected to be filled by an individual prepared to undertake responsibilities at the Band 8a level, while the part-time ward position is available at either Band 8a or a Band 7 to 8a preceptorship, depending on the candidate's experience. We are committed to supporting clinical psychologists in obtaining professional qualifications in clinical neuropsychology.

Commitment to Diversity

As an organization, we strive to ensure our workforce reflects the diverse communities we serve. We are dedicated to eliminating barriers to employment for candidates from underrepresented groups, including BAME and LGBT+ communities. We welcome applications from individuals within these groups.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver a highly specialized psychological service to stroke patients, encompassing comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, implementation, and outcome monitoring.
  • Facilitate an environment that promotes psychological safety and understanding for staff, service users, and caregivers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Engage in service evaluation, audit, and research initiatives.
  • Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and training, acting as a lead specialist in the neuropsychological assessment of stroke patients.
  • Function autonomously within the frameworks and policies set by relevant professional bodies, taking responsibility for interpreting these policies within defined parameters.
  • Collaborate with clinical and professional leads to agree on outcomes and determine the best strategies for achieving them.

About Our Organization

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) is dedicated to serving the populations of Brent, Ealing, Harrow, and surrounding areas.

Our team comprises over 8,200 clinical and support staff who cater to a diverse community of nearly one million individuals.

We operate major acute services at:

  • Northwick Park Hospital, which houses one of the busiest emergency departments in the country and offers a full range of services, including a top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit.
  • St Mark's Hospital, an internationally recognized specialist center for bowel disease.
  • Ealing Hospital, a busy district general hospital providing various clinical services, including a 24/7 emergency department.
  • Central Middlesex Hospital, our planned care site, offering a range of surgical and outpatient services.

As a university teaching NHS trust, we play a vital role in training future clinicians and integrating research benefits into public healthcare.
