Position Overview

The role of Engineering Projects Manager (internally referred to as Central Engineering Projects Manager) is pivotal in achieving the strategic objectives of the organization. This position will be primarily home-based, with responsibilities extending across various sites.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure that all facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards, suitable for a food production environment.
  • Actively engage as a member of the Central Engineering Team, focusing on internal customer satisfaction, compliance with health and safety regulations, and adherence to technical standards.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of capital projects within the food manufacturing sector, from initial concept through to final handover.
  • Manage and supervise the execution of capital projects, collaborating with site teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Implement a structured project management framework that encompasses inception, planning, execution, and post-implementation evaluations.
  • Focus on construction and civil engineering projects, managing budgets ranging from £100k to £30 million.
  • Coordinate all internal fit-out and facility requirements across multiple sites.
  • Work closely with the legal team to ensure all contracts and warranties are appropriately established.
  • Uphold the company’s health, safety, environmental, and hygiene policies, ensuring they are followed by all engineering personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations regarding the testing of new equipment related to capital expenditures.
  • Supervise contractors and direct labor to ensure adherence to safe working practices and risk assessments.
  • Facilitate communication between project managers and factory management teams to ensure clarity on contractor activities.
  • Identify and address any hazards or unsafe practices promptly.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.
  • A background in Project and Maintenance Engineering.
  • Knowledge of product integrity within a live food production environment.
  • Proven experience in Project Engineering and Management.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislative requirements related to Engineering and Food Safety.
